About Us

About the club

South Staffs is one of the oldest clubs within the MG Owners Club having started up in 1977. In the early days it was known as Staffs Area MGOC, before changing its title to South Staffs and North Birmingham MGOC around 25 years ago. Today, as the name suggests, the club covers an area which includes South Staffordshire and North Birmingham. However the club, mainly due to the length of the full title, is more commonly known as just ‘South Staffs MGOC.’

Over the years, the club has moved with the times, and there have been many changes. The current membership stands at over 130. Our members drive a wide variety of cars, ranging from 1950s MGAs to the latest Chinese/Longbridge manufactured MGTFs. South Staffs never claims to be exclusive, but is proud to be fully inclusive, welcoming all MG owners whatever model they drive. We are proud to be known as the ‘Friendly Club’.

The club is organised by an active committee who work hard to provide a full and varied programme of events to satisfy a large and diverse membership. Membership is available to individuals, or joint membership is an option for couples. Some members enjoy the social aspect of the calendar, whilst others are ‘petrol heads’ who benefit from the wealth of shared knowledge within the club. During the summer months there is something going on most weekends. Our events may vary from a Sunday run out in the country, a club display at a classic car show, or even a week away touring in Europe. South Staffs provide something for every MG owner, as much or as little as you like.

Club nights are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month, and we presently meet at the Ascot Tavern in Longford Road, Cannock. However it is advisable to confirm the latest venue information before visiting. Up to date contact details can always be seen on the homepage of this site, or confirmed by emailing the Area Secretary at info@ssmgoc.co.uk
